API & AWS Infrastructure Engineer

Founded in 2015, TNEDICCA is a Technology startup based in Columbus, OH specializing in providing location-based traffic crash intelligence and analytical platform services to enable Auto insurance companies improve profitability through more accurate risk ratings and safety-based navigation.

We are currently looking for a Software Engineer to join our talented team of Data & Analytics professionals in driving our mission forward. This position requires experience in developing and managing RESTful API applications with demonstrable production-scale experience leveraging the best of AWS technologies . In this role you will build, design, configure, deploy, manage AWS Infrastructure and perform high-level, day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades of existing AWS resources. You will serve as subject matter expert on tools, techniques, and methodology to leverage the benefits of the cloud platform. From contributing to new applications to enhancing existing products, you will work amongst a team of passionate software engineers that enable the flow of data through REST APIs and services.

What you’ll do…

  • Deploy, manage, and maintain cloud infrastructure ,provide resource allocation, system upgrades, user access control in AWS Environment.
  • Lead the design of schemas for REST APIs and middleware services.
  • Build underlying data & API service layers used by applications to interact with data stores such as PostgreSQL, Elastic Cache, DynamoDB and more.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues.
  • Regularly review existing systems and make recommendations for improvements.
  • setup redundancy clusters, improve monitoring, notifications, configuration and deployment of our services.
  • Participate in the Agile DevOps design, development, testing, and release of new capabilities and features.
  • Adopt emerging standards and apply Architectural best practices to cloud solutions.

What we’re looking for…

  • Expert SQL skills with hands-on experience querying, tuning, organizing large and complex data structures.
  • Degree in a quantitative field, such as Computer Science/Engineering, Mathematics, Physics. Advanced degree is desirable.
  • 5+ years of experience in developing and managing RESTful API applications with demonstrable production-scale experience with an emphasis on security and performance.
  • 5+ years of experience with core AWS services like EC2, S3,IAM, Lambda, Cloud Watch, CloudTrail, ELB, DynamoDB, API Gateway, RDS etc.
  • Highly experienced with Linux, Apache, PostgreSQL, PHP, NGINX, Laravel, Redis or Elastic Cache, Django.
  • Familiarity with programming/scripting languages such as SQL, Python, PHP, Node.js, PowerShell/Bash.
  • Experience with cloud network / VPC provisioning, securing corporate networks, cloud networks, and VPNs.
  • Advanced SQL skills with hands-on experience querying, organizing large and complex data sets.
  • Familiarity with Geo-spatial data
  • Proven ability to apply good software engineering principles and practices
  • Ability to communicate clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary, agile team format
